“C'mere," Buck says, sitting up to scoot closer to Eddie.
"What are you doing?” Eddie asks, and Buck sighs.
"You can just kiss me, get a taste of the lip balm, and tell me what flavour you think it is.”
Eddie can’t believe his ears.
"That is such a stupid way to win a bet, Buck."
“Oh so you concede?"
Eddie rolls his eyes, shaking his head before planting both hands on the sides of Buck's face and hauling him in to press their lips together.
OR
Buck and Eddie make a bet on whether or not Eddie can guess all of Buck's lip balm flavours, and in order for Eddie to get a taste, they have to kiss.

For once, Buck doesn’t know what to say.
“I’m sorry,” he decides. The syllables sound all wrong in his mouth.
“Do you even know what you’re sorry for?” Eddie asks. His voice cracks on the final word.
Buck blinks, watching in real time as Eddie’s face shutters and his mouth snaps shut.
Buck and Eddie have their first big fight as romantic partners.

Eddie watched Buck glance up at the woman, a face full of innocent ignorance to the gravity of what was being asked of him.
"That's how long you were dead?"
Eddie hadn't hesitated.

Summary
And he was happy. They were happy. Finally together after way too much time skirting around each other.
The date was going so well. They finally got it. And then they fell.
And Eddie hates it. He hates that it feels like they’ve been doomed from the start. That no matter how much Eddie tries– and he does– he feels like something is out to get him. And Eddie might start believing in the Universe– right here in the middle of a pile of debris with his leg pinned and slowly dying. Because there has to be some force at play here– some entity that keeps dooming Eddie and Buck over and over and over again.
