Or; Goten is in love with his best friend, and sparring with the man from the future who shares his face isn't making things any less confusing. Nor is his Trunks' bizarre jealous streak upon discovering this new development.

“How did we get here?” She asked, knowing the question was redundant; she would get no answer from him.
“Where?” Wesker genuinely questioned her words, and Jill realised that he simply did not understand her statement. This was always the plan for Wesker; infiltrate STARS, get close to everyone, and betray them in an instant. It was supposed to mean nothing to him, but really, it was everything. He wanted to move on from that phase in his life, but instead he spent everyday dreaming about his revenge on Chris and spending half his waking moments trying to train Jill to be a part of his new life. He did everything except let go of STARS, and it amazed Jill that he didn’t see that.
Or, rather, an insight on perhaps what went through the minds of Jill and Wesker when she was under his control.
