“Yeah, no,” he says. “I think this is already pretty weird.” There’s no way that’s what he thinks it is. He wheels around, tries to find where the voice is and comes up on a small, grey speaker lodged into the corner of the room.
There’s a shielded, one-way window next to it. Simon has no idea whether or not anyone’s behind it. “Seriously,” he adds. “You already stripped me down. Was that not enough?”
They’d stripped him down and then beaten him pretty thoroughly, and then gone ahead and decontaminated him, so Simon’s 90% sure the whole thing was just for the humiliation of dragging him through COI halls ass-out anyway.
Joke’s on them. He’s got a great ass.
or: genetic diversity when the total population of humanity is ~1000 individuals is a difficult problem. Simon contributes to a solution.
