Summary
Kara is at the end of her nursing shift when a violent man is brought in with an arrow wound. When he spits blood on her, Kara is transported elsewhere. Soon she's doing emergency wound care on book characters and trying not to lose it. She can't watch people suffer even if it isn't real, but Aragorn is very suspicious of a woman who tells no clear story and smells like an orc.
“Stranger things have happened than you or I have years to tell of it," Gandalf said. "Why does she unsettle you? Surely you do not feel threatened. I am tolerably certain you could defeat her if it came to violence.”
Aragorn scoffed at his gentle humor. “I’m glad to amuse you. There are more dangers than warriors and swords. Need I tell a wizard that?"
“I can assure you she is not evil and has not a whisper of magic.”
“Yet a beautiful woman appears directly in our path, leagues from civilization, and immediately gains the hobbits’ trust. No wizardry, you say?”
Kara was not *unhappy* at being called a beautiful woman (although his standards for human women, as opposed to elves, were probably low), but she was unhappy to be stuck eavesdropping. She’d seen this scene too many times in movies. They would definitely see her. -

“I was going to ask you to join me," you huff, "but after that little stunt I might rather drown you instead.”
“A risk I’m willing to take, fortunately for you," Astarion purrs. "It would be the nicest drowning I’ve had by far."
It might be funny if he were joking.
You don’t think he’s joking.
Astarion carries the weight of two hundred terrible years. You do your best to ease the strain.

Summary
“Mister Dekarios, you brought home a friend?” Tara hovered in front of Yrelia but because it was dark she couldn’t tell if the tressym was scrutinizing her or not.
“Ah, well Tara, Yrelia isn’t just a friend,” he said with that sweet smile of his. He took her hand and held it tightly. “No, in fact, she is much, much more than that. She is my fiancée.”
Tara’s gaze flitted between Gale and Yrelia. “Interesting,” she said. “You leave for months and return to me saying you’re engaged. You didn’t think to mention this relationship when we saw each other in Baldur’s Gate?” She flew over to Gale. “I swear, Mister Dekarios, you never cease to amaze me.”

Summary
After Baldur's Gate is saved and the Netherbrain is defeated, Astarion descends into the Underdark where he watches over the spawn he spared from the ritual. One evening while he's working at his desk, he's approached by a stranger looking for a favor. Might as well help them, right? But what could he possibly gain from doing such a thing?
This is written as if Tav and Durge never existed.
