“Tomorrow,” he says. “When you inevitably come crashing through that window again.”

It’s fiddly and George never seems to be able to unlatch it properly. It probably needs a new latch, but he keeps forgetting to take a closer look at it. Until George comes down. And then eventually the thought of the shitty gate is too far away, forgotten again until it closes behind George on his way out.
