"Yup… I’m all yours…"
Karolina raises her eyebrows slightly in reaction to the words. They both immediately disconnect their gazes, and Shiv instantly regrets uttering those words. From any angle, they sound twisted, selfish, and cruel. She knows they hold deeper implications than she is willing to admit.
Fortunately, or perhaps not, Karolina handles this declaration as if it were just another PR statement or something from work.
"Oh, okay, that's good."

"Don't forget your hat."
Shiv takes the cap and playfully places it on Karolina's head. "It suits you better," Shiv remarks.
Shiv wraps her arms around Karolina's hips, and Karolina places her arms around Shiv's neck. They seal their encounter with a kiss, a sweet farewell that lingers with a promise.
They pull apart, and Shiv says confidently, "See you soon."
"We'll see," Karolina replies.
"I was affirming, not asking," Shiv adds with a grin. Karolina only smiles and opens the door.
"Bye, Shiv," Karolina playfully whispers.

When Karolina and Shiv Crashed the Party (Literally)
Shiv leans in a bit closer to the couple, her gaze fixed on Karolina.
"Lucky you, nice food and a nice girl," she comments.Before Karolina can respond, Will interjects with a light-hearted remark, "That's the irony of life. K is a vegetarian, and Phoebe's specialty is beef." Laughter ripples through the group.
"At least you have the girl," one person at the table adds, prompting Phoebe to playfully chime in, "I'm the only meat she eats."

The door latch opens, and there stands Karolina, in makeshift pajamas, an oversized shirt, and shorts, her hair tousled, blocking the door, clearly having been asleep.
"Do you know what time it is?" Karolina says in a swishy, somewhat hoarse voice while slightly adjusting her hair.
"Yes," Shiv says with a sad smile.

Her mother breathes a quiet laugh, though her eyes darken as her thumb draws soft circles over her sister’s brow.
“It’s his pain, Lina. She has to feel it, too.”
“Do you feel táta’s pain, too?”
Her mother sighs, straightening her back and dusting off her skirt, as if brushing off the conversation like lint.
“I do.” she nods. “And he, mine.”
The conversation ends there, her mother returning to the kitchen and leaving Karolina to stare at the hungry ghost-insect on her sister’s tiny leg. She runs her finger over it, her mind recreating the angry mark that had briefly torn her sister’s flesh, and silently prays her soul remains untethered, prays love never sinks its claws into her.
