There was a long pause on the other end. So long, she almost wondered if the call had dropped. Then, a voice came through—low, distorted, as if muffled by static.
“What’s your favorite scary movie?”
“I… who is this?” She replied, trying to keep her voice steady. Her heart pounded against her ribs.
Another pause, and the voice spoke again, smoother now, almost playful.
“I don’t think you’re going to like the answer.”
