“Everyone knows about the rivalry between you two,” Tracey chimed in. “It’d be a sold out match.”
Gary wanted to scream - or cry, or laugh hysterically. Maybe all three. Battling? After all these years? He hadn’t so much as crossed a battle threshold since he was fifteen. He wasn’t sure he was even still capable of it, if his once well-trained, disciplined team would even listen to him anymore. Besides, he hated barking out orders to them, making split second decisions that would cost dearly or pay off completely depending on the circumstances. He wasn’t interested in theory, strategy, move sets. Maybe when he was a child, but not anymore.
Not since Ash left in the first place.

Rowan raises an eyebrow at that. “Yet you’re sitting here now.”
“It’s not that bad yet,” Gary mutters, though the excuse doesn’t feel right when the words are coated in a thin film of iron.
Rowan says nothing to that. Instead, he asks, “What is the treatment?”
“Honesty. To the target of the feelings.”
“And what of the afflicted?”
“Well, I’m being honest now, if that’s what you mean.”
