So that night, in the gay pub he’d allowed himself to be dragged into out of curiosity (and, privately, out of a hunger he wouldn’t have admitted even alone in the loo, staring at himself in the mirror), the word landed on him with the insolence of someone who thought they had the right to name whatever they pleased.

It wasn’t just the term. It was the tone. That almost lazy way of saying it, the crooked smile, the eyes sliding over him without a shred of shame, as if Draco were a window display (something pretty people comment on loudly, on purpose, so other people hear them). "What a top-shelf twink".
Harry Potter existed two corridors away, with his infuriating habit of sticking his nose into anything that wasn’t his business, his Muggle world under his skin, and that vile ability to smile as though the universe belonged to him.
And Potter, to make matters worse, was his boss.

Summary
Potter’s lips quirked up on one side. It was horribly charming, and Draco hated himself for even noticing.
He supposed the creation of the avoid Potter at all costs plan was because of the slight, negligible, really, fact that Draco was attracted to him in a way that made it difficult to keep hating his guts. Clearly, the gut-hating bit was far more important than any possible gut rearranging, so Draco stuck to his wits and stayed away from Potter.
It seemed life couldn't let him have that, either.

L knows that Light Yagami is guilty. And he is forced to accept that he will never be able to prove it.
So, just this once, he decides to break his principles and go above the law. He kidnaps Light and takes him to Wammy's house.
He's sure that having the kids interact with a real-life mass murderer will be a very educational experience indeed.
Or: Light is Kira, L is sick of how easily manipulated the police are, and he secretly wants to see what will happen if he forces Light into a domestic situation with children just as intelligent as he is.

Viktor felt a hand slide up his neck, coming to rest lightly on the back of his head. The hand played with a strand of hair for a moment before falling still. He felt as if he couldn’t breathe.
“I want to help you. Tell me how,” Jayce murmured.
Viktor’s eyes flickered wider. He took a deliberate breath just to remind himself that he still could.
“I…” Viktor gasped. “I don’t know how.”
It was a lie. He did know how.

“To the bridge? Viktor, you can’t be...it’s dangerous down there right now,” she followed him with nervous little steps. “You could get killed!”
“Then I get killed. But Jayce...he does not have to do this. I have to stop him, Sky. Before the man that I...that he is now is lost.”
Viktor never gets a chance to use the modified Shimmer. Facing down his inevitable end, life takes him in a different direction: one that might bridge the gap that had slowly been growing between himself and Jayce.
