The three umamusumes look at Cafe in shock, as if they can’t believe Cafe would defend Tachyon.
“Cafe-senpai! This evil witch must have poisoned you!”

“Or cursed you!” The plain umamusume finally finds her voice. “Don’t worry Cafe-senpai, we’ll break the curse and make you remember the truth! That Agnes auf Tachyon is an evil horrifying villainess!”

Scarlet looks at her knowingly. Scarlet’s eyes are a much brighter red than Tachyon’s that it looks almost pink. Still, it sometimes looks like hers, especially when she’s assessing something. Cafe feels as if she’s currently being assessed by Scarlet right now.
“Are you jealous, Cafe-san?” Scarlet says, a gossipy look on her face.
Cafe feels herself turn red and hot at the insinuation.

“I’m perfectly sober,” Akai insists, but that’s not possible. Even Akai can’t be this utterly insane.
“In case you’ve somehow failed to realize,” Rei says, voice flat, “We aren’t dating.”
“Ah, but we’re in love,” Akai says, and Rei chokes on thin air for the second time that night. “And I’d like a spousal visa.”
Akai wants to marry him, which is an utterly ridiculous idea. But it’s a miracle that both of them have survived for as long as they have, and it’s true that he does like Akai, as unfortunate as it is. There’s no reason to say no.
(Even if he doesn’t quite want Akai to inevitably divorce him.)
