Summary
It had been a long time since the bat signal called Jason. A long time since that particular beacon had anything to do with him. He stuck to his streets. Dealt with Black Mask and Penguin and Two-Face when it suited him.
Jason perched on rooftops and fire escapes and kept his eyes on the ground. He listened to police scanners and hacked into the Bats' comms.
He didn't look up.
He remembered it, though. The rush of adrenaline when he'd spot the bat illuminated in the sky. As Robin, it meant an adventure was to be had. It meant purpose. Magic.

Jason doesn’t flinch. Doesn’t even look down at the pistol pressed into thigh, right above the rope keeping him bound to the cold metal chair. Black Mask leans in,
“Eight chambers, one bullet.” he drives the gun in harder, “How lucky are you feeling, Red Hood?”
Jason sets his jaw, breathing hard through his nose. He couldn’t answer that if he wanted to, with the wad of fabric shoved behind his teeth and tied in place. It’s a bad situation. A stupid situation, tied up for Roman Sionis in just his cargo pants and his mask. But he doesn’t show his hand. He glares right into Roman’s eyes.

Summary
It's weird, having this kid here every time Dick visits. He feels like someone is always waiting for him to misstep, to say the wrong thing. He has, of course. He even made Jason cry once. It wasn't really his fault. The kid is way too sensitive, and Dick doesn't do the whole walking-on-eggshells thing. Jason will toughen up. If Dick doesn't hurt him now, Bruce definitely will later.
