Summary
After Bobby’s death, Buck clung to the last advice his captain ever gave him. In the weeks that followed, he poured everything he had into a private rule book — a collection of lessons, promises, and reminders meant to keep his team alive. Nobody knew it existed. He never planned to show it to anyone.
But when Buck and Eddie find themselves in a life-or-death situation, the kind where the next breath isn’t guaranteed, Buck realizes this might be his only chance to pass on what he’s been carrying. With shaking hands, he presses the worn little book into Eddie’s palm.
He tells Eddie that if anything happens, this is everything he’s learned, everything that matters, everything Bobby didn’t get a chance to say out loud and everything Buck should've said a long time ago. It’s a piece of Buck’s heart, and a legacy he never thought he’d share.
And in that moment, Eddie finally understands just how much Buck has been holding inside — and how much he’s willing to give to the people he loves.
