    “’Yes.’” Lan Sizhui’s fingers stilled for a moment, perhaps surprised for having gotten an answer after all. He then asked, “Why?”

    As the spirit replied in music, the Lans in the room started frowning slightly, clearly confused.

    ’Two of you have committed wrongdoing’,” the junior said, his concern evident. “What wrongdoing?”

    The notes turned even sharper, though the response was short. Immediately, Wei Wuxian could tell there was something off about it. Lan Zhan stiffened, and the kids’ eyes widened, their faces reddening. Lan Sizhui, who was blushing furiously, played the same notes again, as if making sure he’d heard right.

    The cultivation world is rebuilding from the wreckage of the Sunshot Campaign, but Wangji and his shield brother Wei Wuxian are still completely attached at the hip. It is sad that Lan Xichen’s brother is stuck in the youthful pattern of - ah, no polite way to say it: exchanging handjobs with his shield brother - rather than moving on to more adult pursuits.

    On the other hand, now that the war is over, Wangji does seem so much more open and happy than he was as a boy. He smiles sometimes, mostly at Wei Wuxian. Once, he even took an afternoon off. So Lan Xichen can let Wangji’s closeness with his shield brother lie for a time, while he finishes maturing.

    Something smells so good. Wei Ying closes his eyes, already feeling sleepy, and tries to identify where the scent is coming from. He turns his face to one side and then the other, chasing it, until his nose touches Lan Zhan’s cheek.

    He pulls back quickly, not freaking out, because it’s fine. He touched Lan Zhan’s cheek with his nose, and Lan Zhan smells really fucking good, and they’re lying down together on a very soft bed because Lan Zhan is too drunk to let go of him, and Lan Zhan is gay but Wei Ying isn’t, and it’s fine.

    Wei Ying swallows hard and closes his eyes again.

    Wei Ying helps Lan Zhan out of an uncomfortable situation, and they grow close right away, becoming instant friends. To Lan Zhan, they become instant something else. With time, they only get closer and closer, and Wei Ying is forced to deal with his own feelings about Lan Zhan, and his perception of his own sexuality.

    "A part of his mind, the one that is hopelessly in love with Lan Zhan, tells him not to think about the young man's words. This will be a complete betrayal if he accepts. It reminds him that Lan Zhan had waited sixteen years for him, more, if they count the years before his death. But Lan Zhan also let him go, didn't ask him to stay. And though Wei Wuxian is not sure he would stay, he thinks it would be nice to get an invitation. An opportunity.

     

    Lan Zhan is far away in Cloud Recesses making changes to the world, and he is here, lonely and aching. Lan Zhan has his family: his uncle and brother, even though Lan Xichen is in self-imposed seclusion, and a whole horde of disciples who adore him. Wei Wuxian has Little Apple and himself".

    After the events in Guanyin temple Wei Wuxian sets to travel the world alone. Lan Wangji should've known better than to let him go.
