Now, Sirius knew he wasn't stupid. He was certain some would disagree with him on this point - his mother, for one, and McGonagall was sure to have her doubts some days as well. The problem was just that often, when he had an idea, it would get stuck in his head and it wouldn't go away until he executed it.
Sirius wasn’t stupid, so he knew this was a bad idea. The problem was that the quiet Ravenclaw from Charms class (Grant? Greg? Garibaldi? Something like that) had come back from summer holidays with a tattoo and now Sirius desperately needed tattoos because he would not be out-cooled by a Ravenclaw.Sirius wants tattoos, and he knows he wants his and his friends animal footprints as the design. All he needs to do is to get those prints, and really, how hard can it be to get a werewolf's paw print on parchment?

Finally, a man came out from behind the bushes – how Harry hadn’t spotted him earlier, he didn’t know –, raised his wand, and out came a galloping stag. It was just as bright, just as majestic as Harry remembered. And the man, illuminated by the light of the Patronus, looked a lot like Harry. Just like everyone had always told Harry. He was a bit taller and a bit more muscular, of course, but the hair, the face shape, even the round glasses... That was Harry’s dad.
It was completely impossible, but that was James Potter, standing not even 10 metres away.
Ignoring everything Hermione had told him about not being seen, about all the bad things that could happen if they messed with time, Harry ran out from his hiding place and shouted, “Dad!”Series

Summary
Afterwards, Sirius wasn't quite sure what had happened. Somewhere in his attempt to keep Moony away from the kids and the castle, a feat even for a dog at the height of its strength, he must have scratched Moony across the face. It was one of many injuries they both suffered that night and hardly the worst scar Remus would retain, so it didn't occur to Sirius to worry.
By the time Madam Pomfrey thought to check his eyes for damage, the wound had become infected. She did what she could, but when Remus woke up and opened his eyes for the first time a few days after the full moon, all he could see was a source of light to his left and a whole lot of nothing.

Remus wakes up after the full moon only to find out that he bit Harry, thus cursing him with a life of prejudice and pain. When Harry's relatives refuse to have a werewolf live in their house, Harry has no other option but to go live with Remus and Sirius.
"Harry was in the hospital wing. He wasn’t hurt badly thanks to Padfoot, who had had quickly come to his aid (no thanks to Remus the werewolf, the monster). The bite was in his calf (because he must have been trying to run, terrified of the beast that had once been his teacher). Sirius had brought him to the hospital wing after getting Remus through the Willow and into the Shack, with Hermione (who had known his secret and had kept it, trusting him not to hurt his students) freezing the Willow. Poppy had given him something that would keep him asleep until noon at least.
Remus got all that out of Sirius, using exclusively the passive voice in his questions because he did not think he could say out loud what his mind was telling him (you attacked Harry, you destroyed his life, you monster you monster you monster)." -

When Sirius arrived at Remus' doorstep, they both knew there were many conversations to be had. They hadn't talked in years, and the times they did talk - at their flat just before it all went wrong and in the Shack when it all became right again - they were never entirely honest with each other. Honesty was not something either of them had experienced growing up, and so it did not come easy to them, especially in times of high stress. (The entirety of the years in between graduating and that fateful Halloween night had been a time of high stress.)
There was one time, however, in the dark of the night, with both of them tired beyond reason but neither willing to go to sleep, where they really talked.
