The white Initiative armor was gone; in its place: sturdy black armor pieces, the chestplate adorned with the distinctive N7.
“I… I…” she stammers, taking the chestplate in her hands. Had someone confused her locker with Alec’s? She turns to face him, finds him grinning back at her.
“There’s no mistake,” he says. “That’s definitely yours. Tailored to you, and your skill set. It’ll network with the both your L5x and the SAM implant to give your biotics that much more of a boost.”
“But I-I’m not…” she protests. She isn’t N7, would never be. Alec turns away with a shrug.
"We didn't come to Andromeda to continue to be ruled by the decisions of dead men," he says. “I’ve seen your service record, Sara. You earned it, no matter what anyone said. Damn right, you’re wearing it.”
Slowly, almost reverently, she fastens the armor on. And though her training is screaming at her that this is wrong, a part of her can’t help but feel it’s about damned time.
