Summary

A dark fantasy story with horned beasts, self-destruction, magicians, a spiral into violence, swearing, a pregnant trans guy, overindulgence in semicolons, weird sex, elaborate metaphors, run-on sentences, too many fantasy titles, fucked-up blood magic, and no romance whatsoever. Characters include a trans guy with anger issues, what happens when you force an autistic closeted transfem into a fantasy kingdom, a foul-mouthed nonbinary magician, and a terminally optimistic knight. Come for the mpreg, stay for the vague horror at the mpreg guy's descent into violent revenge.

Finally on her own financially, she struggles to make money with her true crime articles and is forced to get a job at a small store called the Makeup Counter, effectively giving up her dreams of being a true crime author and ultimately becoming bitter.
It is through this seemingly dead-end job she meets Aster Isadore Whelan, A quiet, slightly withdrawn, and aloof man who is often well dressed with precise manners, a man who came from money in general. Little does she know this rather peculiar man and his partner Orion would become her best friends.
