Piett takes a deep breath in and gets to his feet, smoothing his uniform out of habit, and steps close to Max. Rising slightly on the balls of his feet, he presses a brief kiss to Veers’ lips - a peck, really. The contact is gentle, fleeting, but it carries everything he rarely says aloud. He reaches into the pocket of his breeches and pulls out a small wooden box of his own.
He hands it to Max, and waits, feeling strangely and uncharacteristically jittery. He’s reasonably sure Veers will understand what the object inside of the box is. He’s just unsure of Veers’ reaction, an insecurity that irks him, and that he doesn’t let show on his face.
Veers holds up the small Axxilan bonding charm in his hand and turns it over with utter gentleness, as if handling something brittle and rare.
Life Day with the Herd brings some time for domestic joy

Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine are dead. Veers is missing. And Piett has surrendered himself to the Rebels because he is operating on orders given to him by Lord Vader. The thing is, the only Rebel who will believe him and aide him is floating unconscious in bacta at the moment.
He and a very frustrated Princess Leia would really appreciate it if Luke Skywalker could come out of his healing trance so that Piett can offer the Executor to the Rebel Alliance. Now if the Lady could just be convinced not to violently release her Admiral as that would put a bit of a damper on friendly negotiations.Series
