Summary
“You,” he grinds out, “have ruined more than my day, Miss MacLean. I don't think you understand what this little road trip of ours has cost me. Peace of mind, for one. And Lord knows that was the most precious fuckin’ thing I had.”
He looms over her, so close she can smell the whiskey on his breath. As she stares up at his hat-clad silhouette, a strange feeling shoots through her body, causing a twinge between her legs and a tingle in her spine. She stands rooted to the floor, unable to think, unable to move.
He doesn't move either, except for his gaze. It roams her face, drops down to her neckline, jumps up to her face again. His anger seems to bleed away, and in its place something else creeps in. Something complicated and frightening.

S2 Ep5 what-if. A bar fight in the Atomic Wrangler leads to the most honest exchange Cooper and Lucy will ever have.

“Please, I’ve survived worse.” Like betraying you. “How else d’ya think I’m still here after two hundred years? Though, I hope you ain’t makin’ a habit o’ leavin’ me for dead.”
Lucy chuckles sheepishly. Presses her lips together before hiding her face in the crook of his neck. “I was afraid I’d never see you again.”
He overcomes his hesitation. Dares to wrap his arms around her, hugging her tight. “Yeah. I was ‘fraid o’ the same thing."
She looks up at him again, hopeful. “Really?”
Cooper swallows hard. “Really.”

AKA, lucy returns inside the vault and comes across cooper as he's trying to leave and they hash it out right there...in a way he knows he shouldn't let happen but he also knows he can't resist her much longer...especially when she looks at him the way she does
