    He beamed, smile ramping up to ten thousand kilowatts. His hands wrapped around hers, large and calloused. He had a bandaid on his thumb, somehow still in existence even in a pseudo medieval world. It was pink. She’d put it there, kissed it better even, and he’d declared himself in perfect health because of her work.

    “You’re nice,” he said, earnestly. He kissed her on the cheek then, chaste. Then, just as shy as she was, “‘m glad you like ‘em.”

    For a moment, she felt as though her smile had a fraction of his brilliance, from the way he blinked and melted under it.
