    Summary

Everyone scattered, after The Chantry was destroyed in Kirkwall, but Fenris, Aveline, Merrill, and Isabela rush back together when there's a sighting of a gangly blond mage in Templar custody. They work together to find Anders, in the dregs of a ruined old Chantry in the middle of nowhere, but, as it always is when it's important, they're too late, and what they find is a tortured and starved to death corpse, the Tranquil brand in its forehead, in a room of dead Templars. Or so they think. But Anders clings to life and the Rite of Tranquility had failed, and they have to work together to heal the healer, while Fenris tries to figure out what to do about the one night they spent together, before Fenris' memories had driven them apart.

Link doesn't care that Ganondorf might still be the enemy. He looks like he gives good hugs and Link wants one.

    -

Zelda groans and shakes her head, if she had known Link liked hugs so much she would have made sure he got plenty the last time around. He likes them best from folks twice his size. She has not asked but she suspects it makes him feel safe in a way he never let himself when the calamity was very much a threat. Or he just likes being tall, he does like to climb up high. "He wants a hug."

Ganondorf raises one big eyebrow, eyes flicking between Link and Zelda still not moving into action. She can see Link's inpatients growing, the subtle shift forward of his foot, the pick up in his toe jumping. Ganondorf does not have long to make the decision on his own. "He wants you to pick him up for a hug."

    Summary

Once, Hawke had told Fenris he could make a home in Kirkwall. He thought he had, but he’d been living in a house with holes in the roof for three years. He’d never guessed an escaped slave might be out there in the city teaching other escaped slaves how to read. Merrill’s home also had holes in the roof, but at least she knew people she could borrow a bucket from when it rained.

    Summary

“I think so,” Jaskier says, “Geralt of Rivia, aren’t you?”

The witcher does look surprised at that, his pale, thin mouth in a straight line.

Geralt of Rivia is famous for being… more of a so-called abomination than any other witcher, or so people whisper. All of the others only went through the infamous Trial of Grasses and were revived once and then sent on their way, but him —

People say that he took so well to the mutagens that they tried to enhance him further. Jaskier doesn’t know how much truth there is to the tales – if he was killed and revived more than once and if the alchemists of his school actually sew new limbs on him to make him better at his intended purpose -- but he knows that the man is given a wide berth by anyone who doesn’t need his services, barely gets paid and speaks little and is infamous for something that went down in Blaviken years ago.

“What if I am?” the witcher asks.

Or: in which everything is more or less the same except that all witchers die and get revived during the trials, Jaskier absolutely can't care less for that one notion and Geralt doesn't quite know what to make of that.
