Summary
She doesn’t think she’s doing better, but she also doesn’t think she’s been feeling any worse than she used to. She used to feel bad, all the time, but now she doesn’t think she feels bad. She doesn’t think she feels anything, most of the time. Like there’s an empty shelf in her chest that’s gathering dust.
Lucas notices. He tries to kiss her better, and it doesn’t work, but she likes the effort.

Summary
When the County Fair comes to town for the first time in 5 years, Lucas Sinclair jumps at the opportunity to spend four weeks in the sun, with an endless stream of free ride tickets, and deep fried foods.
To make matters better, or worse, he has somehow convinced his friends to join him. The fairgrounds are sprawling. With promises of dare-devil thrill rides, live music, the best curly fries on the planet, and a fully working arcade, Lucas makes plans to see and do it all.
Will he succeed in his goal? Or will he spend too much time day dreaming about the feisty redhead working ring toss booth across the dusty walkway? He never had the guts to talk to her at school, but maybe here, at the awe-inspiring fair, under the glow of the twinkling lights, he will finally make a move on the girl of his dreams.

Summary
“I keep thinking, you know. About what would’ve happened if I’d just taken the job.”
“Well, for starters, you wouldn’t be here with us right now.”
“Wouldn’t I? I assume as the god of the multiverse, I’d be kind of omnipresent. I could see everyone, be everywhere all at once.”
“Possibly. But we wouldn’t see you.” She doesn’t think she imagines it when Marcy holds her just a bit tighter, fingertips digging into her sweater like she’s going to blow away into leaves again if Marcy’s not here to ground her.Anne and Marcy have a late night talk.
