Summary
Mike has managed to get just about everything he’s ever wanted since the age of twelve with a simple, dead stare. Fear works as a wonderful motivator, he’s found. He’s never had to be even remotely amiable to the people nor the objects he wants to own.
There’s just one thing which he can’t have like this, however. One thing which he can’t get with a sneer and a split fist. Because he can’t punch this boy into his possession, or even scare him into submission, according to Max.
No— Mike has to ‘charm’ him.
The very thought makes him feel queasy, but he’s truly never wanted anything more than he wants Will Byers.
Or: Will and Jonathan have lived with Lonnie instead of Joyce after their parents split, and he only moves to Hawkins four years later. He's suddenly burdened with a pair of dark eyes that follow him everywhere, and the weight of Mike Wheeler's spiralling obsession with him, as he finds out exactly why everyone hates the boy so much.
(This version of Mike Wheeler is what I believe it would be like if he grew up without a Will Byers in his life. Spoiler alert: he's not a good person.)

Summary
Mike’s heart lurches into his throat, constricting his airway as he takes in his face. Because he knows that face. His eyes have wandered along that strong nose, those bunny teeth peeking out between parted lips, that mole beside his mouth. He’s catalogued every detail of that messy brown hair, those long eyelashes, and that pair of enchanting hazel eyes, over and over again, to the point where it burns behind his eyelids when he kisses his girlfriend.
“Holy shit,” the man breathes, gaping in shock, and for once in his life, Mike doesn’t need a trick to stop his loud mouth. For the first time, he’s truly struck dumb.
Because it’s him. Older, taller, and different, but it’s him.
The man standing in front of them, somehow, is Will.
Or,
18-year-old Will Byers gets sent back to July 1985, tries to help them out using some awesome superpowers and futuristic wisdom, and Mike does his best not to combust in the process.

XD was dying.
It had been slow at first. Insignificantly small pieces of him were being ripped out and, as his being as a whole was infinite, he’d barely noticed.
But for months, years maybe, his divinity had been slowly depleting, until one day he realized that his connection to Limbo had been almost completely severed. A whole chunk of him was about to no longer exist. And it was a small fraction of an infinite, but it was one he could no longer ignore regardless.
From there, it kept getting worse. The human, Dream, the one that was stealing away his being piece by piece, was getting greedier. More impatient. More foolish. XD needed to stop his act of hubris.

"You know, you could use your chosen one to carry out your bidding” Foolish pointed out after a moment of reflection. “But nobody is gonna rally beside Tommy right now. They’ve all been wounded far too deeply by the events you refused to stop. There is no understanding between them. No empathy. No care. They’re divided, scattered, lost.
