Cuteguy and Hotguy have agreed to keep their identities from each other, in order to keep them both safe. After all, it’s not like they’d ever meet as civilians in a city as big as Hermitopia, right? Nah, that wouldn’t ever happen.
On a completely unrelated note, there’s something about this guy who calls himself “Scar Goodtimes” that’s familiar to Grian in a way he can’t quite put his finger on.

Summary
Scar doesn’t pay much attention to the news, at first.
Look, he’s a busy man! Places to go, people to see. A few isolated cases of weird health incidents don’t have anything to do with him. Besides, it seems like the city government has things largely under control. There's a public safety announcement saying anybody with serious symptoms should go to the hospital, and there’s something about bottled water that Scar brushes off because his fridge is already filled to capacity with leftover unlabeled Gatorade, and that’s basically all he thinks of it until one Tuesday morning when he hauls himself out of bed rubbing at his eyes, fumbles around in the dark for a moment, and pulls a windowshade open to let the morning sun in.
