Soulmate AU where you know the last name of your soulmate. Sam’s is ‘Novak’ and Cas’ is ‘Winchester’.
They become college roommates and things are awkward as fuck because tbh they feel nothing for each other in that way at all. The feelings Cas is developing to Sam are more friendly than romantic.
Then they meet the other’s brother.

Summary
Sam Winchester had never wanted his life to be entangled with the supernatural; he was happy to leave that aspect of his family legacy to his mother and elder brother. But when a nameless liaison at a party becomes a passionate love affair with a man whose face he is never allowed to see, Sam is hard pressed to ignore the instinct to mistrust that which dwells in shadow. Instinct wins out, and Sam loses his lover in the bargain.

Summary
Dean did a lot of thinking about when and how he would get Cas back. Months of it, actually, stretching into a year, because while Sam and Eileen were settling into their new lives, Dean was stuck. He was stuck in a faraway corner of the bunker, dark and empty and hollow, ringing with the sound of a vibrating phone.
So when he falls to his knees in that same room, exhausted, hurting, breathless, and he feels a hand on his shoulder and looks up to see Cas, he realizes that he doesn't have a single clue about what to do now. Getting Cas out had been easy--actually, it'd been the opposite of that--but the planning of it, the methodical desperation of one attempt after the other had been a familiar rhythm. It'd been soothing almost, solid, something to focus on that wasn't Cas's eyes, watery and jubilant in a way Dean hadn't ever seen that up close on anyone, let alone Cas.
And now Cas is pulling him to his feet, and Dean's stumbling, and he instinctually grabs Cas's arm, and his hand lights up with a fire that he isn't prepared for.
"Hello, Dean."

Summary
“Right,” Dean says. He nods to himself and tries to believe that Cas means it when he says he’s going to stay. “Right, and Jack, he brought you back?”
Cas smiles softly. “Yes, it took him time to figure out how to use his powers in a way that he could reach me, but he succeeded. We had our own reunion and discussion before he brought me here.” He looks back at Dean. “You have, apparently, been quite the talk of Heaven.”
Dean frowns and finally pulls away. He would be worried, maybe is a little bit, because when do they ever really catch a fucking break, but Cas is looking at him with something so fragile in his eyes. Something light and hopeful and sad all at the same time.
“What’d I do now?”
Cas looks at him like his heart is breaking. “You prayed my name to every angel in Heaven for six days straight.”

Summary
Final episode fix-it fic. Six months after Cas's death and Jack's ascension to God, Dean wrestles with words he never said while Sam tries to figure out if Cas could really be dead after the brothers are mysteriously saved on a vamp-mime hunting trip.
