Summary
“You’re quiet today,” says Krolia. She means quieter. She means, we can talk about it, I know it’s hard.
It’s an opening, and she won’t prod but she lays the offer at Keith’s feet and lets him decide if he wants to take it. She knows it’s hard, because they are for her, too. The visions. Bits and pieces of uncertain futures, or a violent reopening of old wounds that never quite healed properly.
“Do you—” his voice breaks. He pauses.
“Yes?”
Keith tries again. “Do you ever miss dad?” Not quite it, but close... but he doesn’t have to mention Shiro for Krolia to know. His memories speak volumes, and Shiro features in almost all of them.

Summary
"I'm shaking," Shiro admits.
"Let me help, then. Untie me," Keith demands, and turns around so Shiro can undo the ribbon wrapped around his wrists. Shiro does, and Keith's hands instantly find his and squeeze. "You're shaking," he agrees.
Shiro lets out a nervous laugh. "Yeah..."
"Good kind of nerves, or still scared?"
"Both," Shiro says, and tugs Keith forward.

Bucky quirks an eyebrow at him. “So?” he asks after a moment.
“So, what?” Steve says like he can’t see exactly where the kid is going.
“So, is there anything you’d like from me? I bet world-saving is hella stressful,” he all but purrs, tone dropping. “I could help you relax…” He sprawls back against the railing as he speaks, a gesture that seems casual and only accidentally enticing, but that Steve is sure is fully conscious, designed to lure him in.
It damn near works.

Bucky opens his mouth in protest. I’m fine, he wants to say, but Nat’s quirked eyebrow already tells him the lie isn’t gonna hit the mark.
“I can’t,” he says instead, a resigned smile on his face. “I’m Captain America.”

Summary
To end the war they inherited, Keith marries the King he lead an army against.
“You know, we met once,” the king continues, voice closer, and Keith almost turns. They met many times on the field—but then the king clarifies with a single word. “Before.”
Before he was a king. Maybe before he was a general. Keith has traced his rise like the growth of a seed he planted in clay and never expected to see again for how poorly he sowed it. None of this would have been possible without Keith—not the war, not a line soldier's battlefield promotion, not the end of it all, tied up so neatly by all Keith’s best mistakes. Not the killing, either. The king is right about that much, at least.

“I’m so good,” Keith chirps.
“So drunk,” Shiro mumbles. He’s not wrong.
