Summary
They’re lounging on the sofa, Ilya’s head in Shane’s lap as he scrolls idly on his phone, Shane with a book before he places a bookmark on the page he’s been failing to read for the past five minutes. Before he can stop himself, Shane says, “I still can’t believe that Scott Hunter’s gay.”
Ilya doesn’t even stop texting before he says, “I can. He has a gay vibe.”

Summary
The townspeople fear and revere Auden Guest in equal measure. Cool and distant, the lord of Thornchapel, always away at London. In comparison, St. Sebastian is the wound they cannot get rid of, a cumbersome sore, an outsider and a fake. It is St. Sebastian who they revile and Auden who they love. And yet.
St. Sebastian is Ralph Guest’s biological son. Auden isn’t.

Summary
When an obviously traumatized older version of Todoroki Shouto shows up in the middle of Class 1-A’s combat training, it’s shocking, but not completely outside of the realm of possibility: the story he tells of the future is too bizarre to be a lie, and he knows details that no one else could.
The toxic villain boyfriend he’s apparently dragged along for the ride is a little harder to accept.

Summary
The night passes above them, with bright wheeling stars Zuko doesn’t recognize. A forest-green animal spirit rambles over, sniffs them, wanders away. When a strange and fragrant breeze sweeps through their clothing, the older Avatar smiles and lifts a long-fingered hand to touch the wind.
Zuko doesn't know if the churning sensation in his stomach is uneasiness or hope.
The day before they leave Ember Island, Zuko has a strange dream.

Summary
“What can I do to make you stay?” said Shouto, direct as always. He dropped a cup of tea in front of Touya.
“Literally nothing,” Touya said, now annoyed. “I just figured it’d be an asshole move not to say anything. Anyone ever teach you manners, Hero Phosphor?”
“Idiot brother,” said Shouto. “You know no one did.”

Summary
SecUnits are separated from their daemons the moment they come online. Murderbot meets its own daemon for the first time when the company transfers its contract to Dr. Mensah.
The idea of having a daemon, a physical soul, is bad enough. But Murderbot's daemon isn't anything like what it should be. For one thing, it won't shut up about how much it wants to kill humans.

Bookmarker's Notes
We all stayed like that for long enough that Mensah apparently decided she needed to do something to break the stalemate, and said quietly, "Hello."
The daemon turned toward her and snarled fiercely, louder than I thought should have been possible for such a tiny body. It opened its mouth and said in a high, clear daemon-voice, "I'll KILL you. Shut up. Shut up. I'll kill you I'll kill you all I want to. I'LL KILL YOU ALL." Then it screeched again, sounding completely fucking demented.
I slammed the lid shut because on second thought, fuck this.

Summary
“Hollander’s Metros have had a challenging few years, with back-to-back knee injuries and a concussion keeping the two-time Stanley Cup winner and Olympic gold medalist off the ice for three consecutive postseason runs. Hollander is apparently back to fighting trim, but everyone’s wondering if that will still be true come April. The Metros have promised that they’re behind their franchise star one hundred percent, but there are signs they might be hedging their bets. The Metros announced last week that they have penned a deal with San Francisco’s dynamic young Russian star, center Ilya Rozanov. The move has sent shockwaves through MLH, as San Francisco was widely expected to sign a contract extension with Rozanov, who became a restricted free agent in June.”

Summary
Shane watched Ilya tilt his head back and drop some peanuts into his mouth. He gave them all of two chews before swallowing. The totally indigestible peanuts travelled down the line of his beautiful speckled throat. The man was begging for chronic reflux.

Shane sat down beside him. With quick, firm strokes, he cut out a small piece and forked it. “Can you chew your food? Please?”
He held the fork up to Ilya’s mouth; and then his hand wavered.
It was as if Shane had taken off chasing after the puck, only to notice that all the players had skidded to a standstill and everyone in the stadium had gone silent. Ilya was looking at him with an uncertain expression, full of longing. His pupils were blown, the kind of dark that Shane usually only saw when one of them was panting, either pressed up against a wall or the plexiglass. Shane had never seen those eyes and that expression go together quite like this before.

"I will be Sherlock and you are Jude Law."
Shane scoffs. "Why am I Watson?"
"Have you ever done cocaine?"
Shane gives him a look, because it has already come out during post-coital chitter-chatter that Shane hasn't even tried weed.
"I think the one who has tried cocaine gets to be Sherlock." After Shane gives him a bewildered look, he adds, "Sherlock Holmes loved cocaine. He loved it like you love sucking my cock. It is in the stories. It is like in the name of one of the stories. I've only really done it two times, and I didn't like how it made my nose feel or how it made my dick work, so never again."

Summary
“If you don’t come here, I will come to you.”
“Rozanov.”
“I will drive,” Ilya tells him without sympathy. “Park illegally in my big muscle car. Everyone will notice. Lots of photos, probably.”
Shane rubs his forehead. He gets to his feet and glances at his bag, still packed, on the hotel dresser.
“I hate your car,” he says, at last.
“Yes, I know,” Ilya says. It sounds like he’s smiling.

Bookmarker's Notes
He’d never expected to want Ilya this much. If given a choice, at the beginning, he knows he would have said no. But he’d let Ilya get under his skin when they were both too young to know any better—before they’d realized how malleable they were, or how hungry they could get—and the end result is that Shane feels hardwired to want him. He can’t stop. The love is too deeply embedded, like shrapnel. His deepest fear has always been premature, career-ending injury; so it hurts to know that a piece of him is out in the world, running riot beyond the boundaries of his control, smoking and drinking and driving hideously fast cars, and getting his heart broken by grief, and playing violent contact sports, and occasionally, if Shane is very lucky, sleeping quietly in bed beside him, or kissing his shoulder from behind. It is an objectively terrible situation to be in. It would have been his worst nightmare at seventeen.
