A liquid purple mass pulsed slowly over the ashes and rubble of a burning building, spreading around like erratic moving roots, pulsing in search of something. New body. A suitable host for them, filled with suffering and ambition to be able to accommodate them. But good enough not to be swallowed up by the darkness.
They felt it, a new host that would fit in. Filled with the suffering and ambition they need. They touched the first body they found, coiled every limb they could reach, reattaching and repairing the broken body. Repair what they should repair without damaging or changing the existing body structure.
Another mass of liquid moved to envelop the body, covering all existing parts with a thick purple liquid. They move to make new organs that function normally, cover the heart that has just been repaired and spread throughout the body. Settle deep inside and wait for their new host to wake up.
