Then gifts start arriving at his apartment, on the first of every month, like clockwork, like an apology. There is never any note, but the wrapping paper is Japanese, thick and expensive, and always blue-black.
He could pretend they were from anyone; from Alfred, or from Bruce, as unlikely as that would be. The lack of a signature made it easy to compartmentalise again. Perhaps that was the point.
It was usually food, or astronomically expensive, understated clothing that Tim would never buy for himself. Once, when his prescription ran out, it was melatonin; of course that little- whoever it was, kept tabs on that.

A young Damian attempts to initiate a relationship with a horrified Tim. Damian swears that he won't be refused, and begins a five year, long-distance campaign of seduction via gift giving, poetry and abortive attempts to get Tim to just sleep for once.

This story is simple. It happened in four moments. Prologue: a boy drives a car off of a cliff despite the wishes of his stepfather. Prologue: another boy punches someone in the face after an insult about his mother. Prologue: the two boys, now men, meet in a hearing room (Enlighten me again, the cadet says). Prologue: the two men hate each other until the precise moment that they don’t.

For Jim's 28th birthday, he is determined to have the best night of his life. He decides to host a Murder Mystery Party at one of his friend's mansions from back at the academy, inviting all his close colleagues from the Enterprise to join him. Each member is assigned a fictional role for the party. Their goal? To figure out who murdered Captain James T. Kirk. Simple, right?
However, things start to get complicated when it's made very clear that someone is taking the game a little too seriously. When an actual attempt on his life is made, Jim realizes that maybe hosting a murder-themed party wasn't the best idea. All Jim wanted was to have fun and celebrate his accomplishment of living another year. After all, when you're the Captain of the most renowned Starship in the galaxy, you have no idea which birthday will be your last.
