Summary
There comes a time in every man's life when he's gotta reconcile with the choices he's made and the position he's put himself in. One of the few upsides about the end of the world is that you never have to wait for a spot at the bar to open up.

Summary
Darby wouldn’t call himself a man of honor exactly, but he’s always had a code of sorts. Sleeping with Mr. Employee of the Month, the Teacher’s Pet to his sworn enemies ain’t exactly the stand up thing to do. Not when those enemies tried to retire his mentor by force; not when the guy who’s been moaning his name a couple nights a week also very occasionally beats the shit out of him on their behalf to keep up appearances (and then kisses every bruise he left behind in apology). The whole thing is a conflict of interest, but when has Darby not been interested in conflict? So really, this is all par for the course.

Summary
Hook bites his lip in a wordless reply and wishes it was Darby’s. They haven’t kissed. They’ve groped, and nipped, and placed wet mouths on gooseflesh skin, but they haven’t kissed. Hook doesn’t know if that’s a rule; he’s gonna break it in half if it is.
Darby has got a nice smile. Hook should be allowed to taste it.

It's definitely Danhausen wearing Jake Hager's atrocious hat that's doing it for Hook.

Summary
Darby makes his way back over to the couch and asks, very matter-of-factly, as if this is a completely normal inquiry to make: "You ever been in a body bag, Jack?"
And unfortunately for one Jack Perry, his heart has decided that somehow, this is the pinnacle of romance.

Summary
Hook’s weight shifts from one foot to the other, a nervous tic that screams of just how uncomfortable he is. Jack can’t imagine why that would be. They fought; Hook got his dad’s precious, piece of shit belt back; they haven’t seen each other for more than a glimpse since. The JungleHook book is closed. Hook won; Jack lost.
Jack always loses.

Hook gets a text on a dormant thread with a location inside of the venue along with a time. In hindsight, he probably should've expected this to happen.

Darby Allin is pretty sure that Jack Perry is going to break his heart. He can’t think of a single thrill more worthy of chasing with a lower survival rate.

God, all he wants is for them to be something like normal again. Maybe not exactly how they used to be because that’s—Hook sinks his canine into the bottom of his lip to the point of nearly splitting skin—that’s not something they can have anymore.

Summary
Danhausen had assumed the first time he got his hands on Hook it would be in a hotel room at best and a Panda Express bathroom at worst. They’d been building to this for so long, creeping to the tipping point of inevitability; neither ever having the nerve to push things over the edge. There are only so many places on the road for these sorts of things to unfold.

Summary
Danhausen takes a deep breath through his nose—and the scent that dances its way through the air makes his nostrils flare. But why is that fragrance here? A blip of familiarity is an unfamiliar place. Well, unfamiliar lately anyhow. The way our sense of smell is unforgivingly linked to our memory is a special kind of cruelty as much as it is a kindness.

Summary
[Note: This is a fake story. The summary below describes what the full story would be about if it was going to be written. It's not going to be. You are going to be reading a stripped down piece of a chapter that would exist if this were real. Which it's not.]
The parallels are to be expected because tag teams have a formula. Hook is heartsick, but unsurprised to find that much of working with Jack echoes his tagging with Danhausen. But when Jack swoops in to steal a pin that has Hook’s wrists over his head and back pressed against the mattress, that's the final parallel Hook can abide in silence. Now's probably a good time to tell Jack about the plain silver band he carries in his wallet.
