A warm, pitted hand is curled around her waist, gentle breath sonorous as Rusty holds her close, and that guilt flows away into contentment as she gets comfortable against his chest. Sometimes, Hydra’s there too, holding her hand across Rusty’s waist as they mutter in their sleep against Rusty’s shoulder, and in those dreams her core couldn’t feel fuller with love-
“Pearl? You alright over there?”

Hydra had been delegating to watch Rusty and Pearl race from the sidelines. Sure, he loved them both. Rusty was his best mate (who he definitely didnt have a crush on) and Pearl was his friend and his best mate's girlfriend (who he definitely didnt have a crush on), so he was happy they were doing so well. But he was even happier when Silver Bullet approached him asking to get converted to hydrogen.
Rusty's not a massive fan though.
