    He gives Wade’s shoulder a squeeze and a shake. “Ok, now try telling me instead of the pillow, Space Cowboy.”

    One angry eye peeks out as Wade cranes his neck just far enough to peer past a cushion Peter hadn’t even realized was removable. He’ll have to confirm that later. Sometimes Wade likes to… modify things and forget to mention it. He’s pretty sure normal people who marry other normal, non-mercenaries never have to worry about throwing stars stashed in couch pillows.

    “I said,” Wade enunciates petulantly. “Everyone thinks you’re fucking the human zippo.”

    There’s a bunch of photos with the camera flipped, candids of a coworker not realising there’s a phone pointed at him. The guy has fluffy brown hair and rectangular glasses. There’s only one picture with a clear quality shot of his features and it’s a side profile, so Wade knows he has a slightly crooked nose and a thin scar from jawline to cheek on one side of his face, but that’s it.

    Still. There’s something about this guy that feels… familiar? That shouldn’t be right, because Wade doesn’t make a lot of acquaintances that have nothing to do with the masked weirdo lifestyle and this guy is just a barista at a coffee shop, but there’s definitely some deja vu-like feelings happening.

     

    Or:
    Your regular ass coffee shop au that has way too much happening in it. Including but not limited to: "Oops I left my phone at your workplace and your coworker took stupid selfies and some photos of you on it, and you're weirdly familiar" serendipity, superhero shenanigans, mystery coffee orders, and extended challenges as a form of flirting.

    They’re sitting on a rooftop, nearing the end of patrol, when Peter decides to jab Fate right in the eye and flip her the bird for good measure.

    "—and I was sure it was about to be a sex pollen disaster, but thankfully," Wade says, knocking on his temple for good luck, "just some classic, springtime eau d'jizz from those pear tree things."

    “There is no such thing as sex pollen,” Peter snorts derisively.

    Wade points accusingly at him.

    “Now you’ve done it! You’ve Invoked the Trope! We’re doomed by the narrative now!”
