“Crowley, Hello um I’ve found myself in a spot of bother and I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind popping round to the-“ There’s the muffled sound of a crash and Crowley is sure he hears a soft muttering of ‘oh bugger’ before Aziraphale must get a hold of the receiver again. “Bookshop dear boy, please.”
    -
Crowley is staring down the barrel of forever without a clear purpose, Aziraphale has a run in with a cursed book, and they find ways to help each other move forward.
    -
Aka an excuse for the author to write about the innate intimacy of seeing your hereditary enemy’s wings and what it means to make your own choices after so long being guided by your superiors.

    Summary

"I understand," Crowley says flatly, too calm perhaps to successfully hide away the turmoil pulling at the strings of his heart. "I think I understand a whole lot better than you do." You fool, he wants to add, you're breaking me. Desperate for some sort of sign that he wasn't the only one feeling like this. Getting his wings ripped off probably hurt less.

"Well..." Aziraphale adds with a pitiful attempt at a kind, understanding smile. "Then there's nothing more to say."

Crowley's heart is hammering a thousand miles per hour, a quick beat that makes him feel sick like nothing else had ever done to him before. Knowing already that they were in the process of making one of his new worst memories.
"Listen," he hoarsely interjected, pointing his finger up to drag Aziraphale's eyes to him one last time before he threw it all away. Risked it all. "Do you hear that?"

"I don't hear anything," Aziraphale huffs, fed up with his friend's antics at last.

"That's the point," he wants his angel to get this. This one final lesson. "No nightingales."

    Summary

Crowley strolled through the garden of the Selsey house, pruners in hand, scrutinizing the plants with a practiced eye. He snipped a yellowing leaf off one of his lilies. Once he might have pulled the whole plant up and made an example out of it. He would have hissed threats at the rest of them as he did. But now he just clipped the yellow leaf and tucked it into the pocket of his black gardening apron. He continued his inspection of the plants, moving along the raised beds, looking for any hint of imperfection among the foliage and deep red and purple blooms. Everything was as it should be until he rounded the corner and saw a little patch of yellow daffodils peeking out of one of the beds.
“Angel?” he called to Aziraphale who sat on a bench next to a nearby fountain, reading a book with a little tray of fruit and cheese.
“Yes, dear?” He said without looking up from his book.
“Why are there daffodils in my garden?”

“Kat… If you insist on this building being haunted again, I swear I’ll quit without warning and let you deal with the shit show.” Sasha shook her head in disbelief with her friend.

Katya pointed at her and grinned, eyebrows high in mischief “Let’s see how many more times you’ll keep blaming the nonexistent wind for messing the papers on your desk.”

Or: How many times can I put Katya in suits and write weird dialogues because I want a friend like her.
