Summary
In the middle of the Origin Era, Penglai suffers from a shortage of resources. Due to the amount of rhizomatic energy used during the Turbulent Era, as well as the amount of stress and harm that had been placed on the Fusang roots, less and less resources had been harvested over the centuries. Wars, famine, and disease plague the solarian home world and soon secondary options have been scouted.
The Tiandao Corporation would have begun drilling deep beneath the earth and further down into the oceans to harvest rhizomatic fluid, which would soon be refined into energy. But as the old tale goes, some things should be left well enough alone. Yi and his fellow workers on the Kunlun Coast Rhizomatic Rig D would soon learn the terrible truth of what happens when something is exploited to the point of self-destruction.
