Summary
Husk doesn’t usually hunt his own debtors, but tonight he’s restless, bored, and the casino’s thrills aren’t enough to fill the voids in his afterlife. Tracking a runner into a smoke-choked jazz club deep in Pentagram City, he expects a routine collection, instead, he finds Angel Dust.
Angel knows better then to tempt fate by flirting with men who collect souls, but he’s never been able to resist a challenge. And when the new face at the back of the bar isn’t instantly enamored with him, he takes it as one.
What starts as a momentary distraction in a smoky bar quickly leaves each of them feeling like they’re standing before a loaded gun and daring it to go off. Because sometimes the bullet doesn’t kill you, it just opens old wounds to new scars.

Then touch became need, taste became memory, and every sound they made together started to ring differently. Husk smelled like a vintage memory, he tasted like spiced vices and warmth and every time Angel got close, he thought he’d happily drown in that cocktail of aromas. Angel's voice is gleeful melancholy, an old song playing off a love word record. A tune that Husk wants to keep stuck in his head for however long eternity is.
Casual has quickly become the wrong word for what they've built, and without it, both worry this can't last.

Husk reaches into the couch cushions and pulls out the remote like a rabbit from a hat. He pushes the power button. Just like magic, Angel’s gasping cries cut off mid-sound, mercifully plunging the room into silence. Only it's not merciful. It’s a mechanical reminder that none of this is real. Turning the TV off is just another cheap illusion of control.

Husk has worked for the Marini Family for 15 years. He starts questioning his job for the first time when he finds out his colleagues have been mistreating an unusual captive scheduled to be held indefinitely. Just as disconcerting, the Family never holds anyone indefinitely, so what's so special about the strange blond that the don wants to keep him around rather than release or kill him?
Angel thought he'd escaped captivity at the Facility only to fall into the hands of the mafia, which he thought he'd successfully run away from 10 years ago. Is he doomed to be used by yet another cruel entity or will the suspiciously benign enforcer with the golden eyes take pity on him long enough for Angel to flee Pentagram City entirely?
A mafia enforcer/captive AU set in a near-future semi-cyberpunk pseudo-dystopia. Angel has a bad time, but a happy ending is on the horizon. PLEASE READ ALL THE TAGS. Relevant tags will also be noted at the top of every chapter. Remember to take care of yourselves!

Angel can’t shake the feeling that it can’t be over. How can he really be free when he knows Val is still out there, defeated but not gone? Maybe this makes him a vindictive asshole and maybe he won’t deserve redemption after this, but fuck, it’s been so long since Angel’s felt like his spite means anything at all.
He’s so sick of having a monster under the bed. Time to turn on the lights.
