Spamton always wanted freedom, the ability to choose his own path, his own choices. He's gotten that, at a price. But it's better than no freedom at all. Better than being stuck in a tiny cage for decades. You don't need a bunch of strings to be trapped forever, apparently all you need is one goddamn wire.

“Didn’t know you still [[smokehouse barbeque]],” he said instead, shifting his eyes subtly to watch the smoke drift from Tenna’s soft lips. He choked back a noise.
“Didn’t know I still…? Oh- heh! Y-Yeah.” He shifted his weight, embarrassed at what in his mind seemed to be getting caught. “Some habits just uh… die hard, I guess! I-I don’t do it that often anymore, especially now that I have to help teach the kids, and you know I’ve stopped drinking all together, b-but sometimes I just- When I’m stressed out, I just need to- It’s not like I’m-”
“Still the same [[dazzling new brands]] you used to smoke [[way back when]]?” Spamton gently interrupted, breaking his spiral.
A beat passed before Tenna sighed and resettled again, a tenseness in his shoulders now that made Spamton purse lips he didn’t have.

"Gee Anthony," Spamton rolled his eyes slightly, but his satisfied smile betrayed how pleased he was to hear it. "What can I say? You're one lucky guy."
"Oh, absolutely," Anthony chuckled cheerfully. "I love you." Then the tall man craned his neck slightly and placed a fleeting kiss on the other man's antler, causing Spamton to jump a little, clearly embarrassed. He would probably have blushed if he could, the thought of which made Tenna chuckle again.
His mailman only snorted and blew into his partner’s ear, causing the man to flinch slightly.
"I love you too," Spamton replied, smoothing the sweater across the broad chest where his palms rested.
They leaned closer and lightly nuzzled again, this time more slowly and thoughtfully, tender smiles on their lips. Spamton had never felt such warmth in his life and, perhaps for the first time, he could truly enjoy Christmas.- Language:

The caller’s tone and diction have changed greatly, now resembling a famous showman. It’s immediately recognizable and unmistakable. Doing a double take, a shot of adrenaline overtakes as Spamton’s torso rises on instinct placing his body weight on his propped forearms. Under the strain, the rickety couch creaks loudly.
After being snubbed for so long by the other Addisons, Spamton intercepts a call and takes on a new commercial opportunity. There, he meets Tenna for the first time, someone who the scammer may or may not try be interested in ... for purely business of course.
