You’re exhausting
Those words echo in his head like a flashbang, and it lingers like a bruise. A sickly sweet bruise, purplish blue, encroaching that feeling of totality, of existential crises in a nutshell. It pursed itself and pulsated with pain, unmoored by the simplicity of how it got there. The smell of breakfast wafted into the air in a clear contrast to the miasmic brooding his thoughts impaled into him.
And then there was a knock at the door.
*Knock knock*
And just like last night, he was brought out of that self-deprecating stupor as he jumped into action, heading to the door and opening it without a second thought to the comforting appearance of Carla.

Buck’s chest tightened, guilt creeping in like a shadow. “Chris, you would never mess things up for me. Never. You’re family. You always have a place here. And you’ll always come first.”
Chris’s shoulders sagged with relief, but his voice was still small. “So I can live with you?”

Eddie frowned. "So basically, we'd be boyfriends, without benefits?"
"Yes!" Buck snapped his fingers. "Like platonic boyfriends! We'd get all the benefits of a relationship and none of the heartbreak."
And maybe Eddie had finally lost his mind, or maybe it was from all the alcohol clouding his judgment, but the idea of it didn't sound half as crazy as it should have.

Summary
Finally allowed to see Christopher again after the lawsuit debacle, Buck takes him to an observation deck on the top of a skyscraper in downtown LA when an earthquake suddenly hits the city. As Buck does everything in his might to get Christopher out of the crumbling building and back to Eddie, a race against time begins that Buck is determined to win.
Or, an earthquake, a collapsing building and Buck's sheer endless bad luck are not a good combination.
