Summary
Shepard stares as that mouth keeps moving, and eventually works his own to form words again. “Kaidan…” His voice is raspy, scrapes at his own nerves, the pain building as language eludes him. But what he’s about to say is necessary, so he furrows his brow and ignores it.
Immediately, Kaidan cuts off to listen. “Yes?”
"You're...the prettiest. Most pretty.”
[Or: Shepard gets a concussion and Kaidan takes care of him.]

Nathan Shepard has more than enough on his plate: end of the world, new Spectre status, the crushing weight of everyone's expectations, without having his ex assigned at his Staff Lieutenant. Thankfully Kaidan doesn't seem to recognize him. Which is fair, Nate's come a long way from the scrappy thug that used to sell pretty boys red sand for cheap in exchange for a bit of attention. Now, Shepard just needs to remember that Kaidan /doesn't/ remember.

Summary
It was difficult to choose just one way of killing Enver Gortash. Maidris had devoted hours to the careful art of consideration, daydreaming all the ways he could bring him to heel, to break that easy confidence, to leave him numb and begging, panting on the floor like a dog. To destroy, to utterly dismantle, Lord Gortash would be a ceremony, a holy ritual in itself. And at the end of it all, regardless of his method, Maidris would have his blood dripping over Bhaal’s altar, a final offering before the world was broken and made anew.
The Dark Urge arrives at Gortash's door for a reason he can't yet admit to himself. There's bickering, a little bit of spice, and some bittersweet pining for a future neither of them can have and don't even know that they're dreaming of.
