For just a little while Angel can forget his panic. Husk always has the new drink at the ready for Angel every night, shamelessly giddy to see what drink will finally catch the spider off guard.
You don't have to search very far when they're waiting to be found. It's just a matter of hearing them when they're as silent as you are.

Summary

When the disciple intake that should contain Luo Binghe passes without the protagonist showing up, it throws a spanner into his plans. He’d sworn he’d hug the protagonist's golden thighs and protect his brother and Cang Qiong Mountain Sect from Demon Emperor Luo Binghe’s eventual wrath.
That’s going to be tough without him. But his little dog grows into a stalwart companion, arriving in his dreams to tell him he’s trapped in this canine body. That’s fine! They have all the time in the world for him to cultivate to human form.
He doesn’t know why the system is still counting down to Luo Binghe being thrown into the abyss, since he hasn’t even made an appearance…

Alastor owns the only jazz club in town, Blanché. Vox is a self-identified crazy person looking to make a career as a musician. When Alastor hires someone a little different to bring in a new crowd, he finds he may have bitten off more than he can chew.

Summary
Vox was mildly surprised to find that the kitchen was now full of the rich aroma of a genuine dark roux and the softer scents of what he had learned was called “the Holy Trinity”...onion, bell pepper, and celery. There was the savor of cured and spiced meat undercutting it all, but rather than angrily cooking, Alastor was just…leaning. He had both hands down on the counter and was bracing against them, shoulders pulled up and head hanging.
He looked tired.
Feeling even guiltier than before, Vox cleared his throat, "Al? Have I been controlling this wedding thing too much?”

“Vox, please,” Alastor begged, “not this again.”
Vox sat up straighter. He tugged his sweatshirt down before brushing his fingers, twitchy and moving fast, down the front. “Its texture isn't… isn’t fucking consistent, okay? Okay?” Aw, shit. “So, there's like bits in it when you chew it and… and sometimes, sometimes, it feels like it squeaks between your teeth when you do chew it.” Vox mimed chewing like Husk was unfamiliar with the concept. “Squeak, Husk. Squeak!”
“This is my eternal punishment,” Alastor muttered with a shake of his head. “I was a very bad man, and this is my punishment.”
