    “No getting out of it now.” Bobby’s steady voice makes him flinch.

    “We literally haven’t moved.”

    “You could run,” Bobby says with a shrug. “But then you’d have to deal with Athena.” He steps into the RV.

    Turning around, Buck sees Athena standing at the doorway, her hand still in the air. When she catches his eye, something in her expression shifts. He’s seen that expression before. Typically, she uses it on people who are about to flee arrest.

     

    I fucking dare you.

     

    Sighing, Buck gets on the RV.

    After a call that is almost his last, Buck is having a hard time. He’s avoids his family, his friends, and everything in between. When Bobby suggests they go on a road trip, he almost laughs. But what’s worse? He actually says yes.

    Or: The Post 5A recovery road trip fic literally no one asked for, but I wrote anyway.

    Years before joining the 118, Buck’s travels take him to El Paso, where he meets Christopher. When Eddie comes back from Afghanistan and Shannon leaves, Buck ends up staying. As bills pile up, the best move is for them to get married, just for convenience, they’ll divorce when Eddie comes back from his re-enlistment.

    Then Eddie gets injured and it’s just easier to stay married for a little longer, while Buck gets started at the 118. However, Buck doesn’t mention his ‘husband’ and kid, not feeling like they’re his to keep. When Eddie gets the offer from Bobby, they decide to lie and pretend they don’t know each other, so they can work together.

    The whole lie gets out of hand as feelings start to become real, until it all comes to a head in the aftermath of the fire engine explosion.

     

    AKA: Secret marriage of convenience buddie slow burn AU, where Buck and Eddie have been married for years so Buck could adopt Chris and no one at the 118 knows.

    "What the hell are you?" The man asked sounding kinda stumped, but he raised his voice as Chris took a step towards Buck "Hey, don't come near the—shit, is that a tail?"

    Yeah, Buck was screwed big time.

    After the rest of the family comes back, they have to figure out how to adapt to this new dynamic. Through trial and error, they struggle to find their footing once again.

    Except, they can never forget what they went through together, the moments they shared, their little family.
    It wasn't perfect, not by a long shot, but at the end of particularly bad nights, it's those little moments together that they replay, over and over, lulling them to a somewhat peaceful sleep.

    Dick rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “I’m mostly used to sparring with my little brothers, it’s kind of just habit, and I was having fun. I didn’t want the match to be over too quick.”

    “Too quick?” Derek asked, eyebrows raised. “I’m twice your size, kid.”

    Dick shrugged. “So’s Bruce and we’re pretty much tied at this point, or at least according to the score board the kids started to keep for Saturday spars.”

    “Saturday spars?” Derek repeated, following him towards the locker room.

    Dick flashed him a smile. “What? Don’t have any weird family traditions?”

    “Not ones that include hitting each other,” Derek said

     

    OR The BAU gets a probationary profiler who is a little more than he appears at first glance. Or second. Or third. Just how many secrets can Dick Grayson be hiding from a team full of profilers?
