“Pleased to meet you,” the man tilted his head, looking at Leon from head to toe, as if appraising him. “I’m Glenn Arias.” He reached out his hand as if for a handshake, before he seemed to realize that Leon couldn’t exactly offer a hand back, and instead he shifted so he could run his gloved fingers over Leon’s cheek. “We are going to be very happy together, you and I.”
“I appreciate the offer,” Leon grumbled, shifting again to test his restraints. “But I’m going to have to pass. I have… prior engagements.”

Dream didn't relise that he had given Hob Gadling much more than he had intended during their last meeting in 2022. While Hob lived in fear of losing the most precious gift his Stranger could have given him, Dream did his best to erase from existence the feelings that he kept since their last meeting.
Ten years later, Dream returned, expecting to find the smiling face of a friend. But instead, Hob was terrified by the sight of him, holding a child in his arms protectively.
“I do not mean harm,” Dream said, raising his hands in the air slowly. “I have sought you out to ask for help. If my presence is unwelcome, I can leave.”

"Hmm," the way Karl strokes his chin sinks any hope Rose might have had about getting a straight answer. "Always thought I'd made a good devil on someone's shoulder. So tell me, Rose, why do think these powers of yours need to go?"
