Summary
Zoey and Mira are at the end of their rope waiting for Celine to finally track down this third and final member of their hunting trio before they can make their debuts as idols and start to actually be effective against the forces of evil in their world. They decide to blow off some steam at a club in the city but run into trouble when they come toe to toe with a demon unlike any they'd faced before.
She's strong and clearly very powerful, but when they draw their weapons, she does something no other demon has when faced with the opportunity to try and take down the legendary demon hunters.
She runs away.

And the way she always disappears when someone tries to check on her... or how she keeps her injuries hidden after battles, even when she clearly needs help. I mean, it's like she has a whole system for keeping herself out of sight."
Mira's hands tightened around her glass. "So... what are you implying?" She was uncertain if she even wanted the answer.
Zoey hesitated and whispered, "I'm saying... I think she might be harming herself."
Or
What if Mira and Zoey began to notice Rumi's strange behavior but drew the wrong conclusions? And what if they ended up discovering the truth in an entirely unexpected way?

If Rumi said she’d always wanted Mira and Zoey to know about her patterns, she’d be lying.
When Celine suggested that Rumi officially become a Hunter at sixteen and start her own group, Rumi agreed instantly. When Celine warned Rumi about telling or showing her prospective group members about her patterns, Rumi agreed it was for the best that she keep it a secret. Besides, the patterns would be gone once they sealed the Honmoon, right? How long could that take, anyways?
It would take a while, actually, because Rumi forgot about the lead-up to a group’s debut.
