Summary
Something shifts between them in the dark, something suffocating that Mark doesn’t dare put a name to, and it urges him forward with insistent hands–"move closer, closer, closer until you know how his lips feel on yours." Panic stirs in his chest, and he tries to choke it back.
This can’t be it.
This can’t be what he wants.
They are sixteen, and anxiety pools in his stomach.
They are sixteen, and Donghyuck is beautiful.

Summary
The passage of time tends to dull things in Mark’s head. He hardly remembers the summers he spent roaming the palace gardens. Time had run fast back then, in the way life does when you are young and unhindered. But Mark sees the sharp slant of his smile and knows in his gut that it’s a smile he’s seen many times before. Peaking around the hedges and through the fringe of the sun. It’s a smile he knows well, but also not at all.
Or Mark becomes the royal tutor for the youngest prince, Jisung. Over the years, he falls into a humble routine. He teaches Jisung, presses flowers for his mother, and spends his evenings in the gardens. It’s all very simple, until it’s not.

Summary
Donghyuck wonders if Renjun feels it too. He wonders if he's plagued by dreams and memories of things that couldn't have happened and yet he's sure have. He wonders if Renjun remembers the way they kissed before—wherever, whenever that was. It's still hazy, very much so, but Donghyuck understands better now.
He wonders if Renjun is drawn to him too without knowing why.
Or maybe he's telling the truth. He doesn't want Donghyuck.
Maybe there's no happy ending here either.

Summary
Donghyuck thinks of Mark Lee’s dumb, earnest face, his not-quite-dimpled smile, his jeans, his cursebreaker hands. So much had changed in those two years since high school, and yet. And yet.
Call me if you want help, Mark had said.

or: a backfired spell, a reconciliation of mortality, and a lot of awkward flirting. And still, Mark Lee sticks around.Bookmarked by TheMarauders

Bookmarker's Notes
Very bittersweet and tugs just at the right heartstrings
