When what should have been a straight forward mission in Hell's Kitchen goes pear shaped due to lack of communication, teaching his teammates sign language seems like a logical step to Clint. Communication when their comms are down - great plan! And including the local vigilante, who's been working closely with them on this, is a real no-brainer.
Until it turns out said vigilante is an asshole that thinks sign language is beneath him, judging by the way he's stubbornly refusing to learn it.
(Conversely - Matt's trying, he really is but damn it, those two signs are exactly the same... what do you mean they mean completely different things?!)

Juno points at his own bed where it’s nestled into the corner. Jet argued that Juno shouldn’t have to give up his bed, but Juno’s shared with Ben before (especially in the last couple years, whenever he has dreams that Ben’s gone, taken somewhere Juno will never find him again), and Juno figures the new kid might want to sleep with his back against the wall or a knife under the pillow.
Peter Nureyev smiles. “Thank you,” he says, his voice all polished and shiny.
The kid’s sharp, smooth like the knife he showed them when he showed up. Juno doesn’t mind him having it, so long as its blade stays far away from Ben.
...
A brief sequel to loonylu's up the wolves. Peter Nureyev stays with Jet, Juno, and Ben for a little while, and Peter and Juno learn to get along.

Juno hates this, he thinks as he curls up tighter and watches the acidic rain drip down onto the concrete floor. He hated it at Ma’s, he hated it at the hospital, and he hated it at the group home especially, and he hates it here in this moldy basement.
Juno is nine years old and he feels like half of himself is missing. It’s been thirty-nine days since Juno has seen Benzaiten and he feels like he is going to explode. He’s a resourceful kid, at least that’s what the caseworker lady said, and he is not gonna cry. He’s gonna find Benzaiten and they’re gonna live together and take care of each other like Ma said to, no matter what.
Just as soon as the rain stops.
(sarah goes too far, and juno and ben are put into foster care. after running away from a particularly awful group home, nine-year-old juno stumbles into one of jet's post-heist hiding places.)

Peter Ransom is perfect, and this makes him favorable, until he is expected not to be, and then he is nothing. Peter Ransom is a no-good bastard to Vespa and a shameless suck-up to Jet and an obstacle to Captain Aurinko, who only wants to crack him open like an egg and poke at the raw yolk of Peter Nureyev where Ransom protects him from her view.
Peter Ransom expects to be hurt when he is caught. He does not expect this, Juno’s hands raised in surrender and twigs openly snapping beneath his feet across a clearing, not two hands around his middle or a trap around his leg but a hand extended with food in its palm and for once no scent of danger on the wind.Perhaps he needs a hug more than he thought.

Now, Peter Nureyev is warm, and well-rested, and loved. Peter Nureyev does not have to be a man built from pain, he reminds himself, as Juno so often does. Peter Nureyev can be happy without the things that make him at his core cracking and falling to oblivion, and so he is.
“Perhaps I missed you,” he says, and tries to put every soft, glowing thing inside his heart into the words. “Can a man not long for his wife’s warmth beside him, Juno?”
“Sap,” Juno chuckles, pulling away a few painful inches so he can smirk knowingly at Nureyev. “You’ve been saying that an awful lot lately.”
“Saying what, love?” Nureyev asks, feigning innocence. Juno rolls his eye.
“Y’know. Wife.”

It wasn’t the most glamorous of jobs, but on the other hand, the billionaire had left a gloating ad in the newspaper and was almost certain to buy another if the Nameless Thief didn’t show up. By Juno’s estimation, it was about a fifty-fifty shot of him coming at all.
They weren’t his favorite odds in the world, but they were loose enough that once evening crept closer and the hall began to empty, Juno allowed his eyes to wander, and subsequently, land on Peter Ransom.

Summary
Juno, as Nureyev had learned his name from a professor who insisted on doing a verbal attendance for the first few weeks, was the individual crammed into his unassigned assigned seat at Peter’s side. While they had yet to exchange phone numbers, that wasn’t for lack of trying.
Juno was from the opposite side of the country and wore twice as many layers as Nureyev at any given time. His face had been blessed with a divine side profile and when he smiled, Peter had to make a mental note to watch an extra video on the subject of the lecture, just because his mind had a habit of flickering in and out of focus when Juno’s lips curved into that shape.

About thirty seconds ago, Juno had been half asleep, letting the king’s words flow in one ear and out the other while he zoned out in the direction of the nearest candle. Knights’ meetings always went the same way anyway. The ones who arrested the most folk heroes and dulled their swords on the most dragons got cushy jobs, while Juno would be assigned to stand guard in the creepy forest on the edge of the kingdom again. He didn’t doubt it would take a miracle to get his attention.
With the door recently thrown open and Juno’s head still aching from where it banged against the round table in shock, he no longer wished for an end to his boredom. At the end of the day, it seemed a far kinder fate than the one promised by the large, glowing axe slung over the shoulder of the interloper.
