You rested your head on the back of the couch and let your eyes slide shut for a moment, only prying them back open when Choso re-entered the room, hot chocolate in hand. “Bless you,” you said, and grabbed the cup. It was the perfect temperature, as it always was when Choso made it. He’d never let you burn your tongue on a too-hot drink, not if he’d made it. “Honestly, I’d marry you for your hot chocolate alone.”
“That implies there’s more reasons than one that you’d marry me,” he said with a deep chuckle that you could feel reverberate in your chest as he sat down.
“Oh, there’s loads,” you said, being more honest than he probably realized. “Being related to your brother is one of them.”
Yuji let out a little cheer at that.

It wasn’t like you’d necessarily been waiting for Mike to come home. That would be weird and wrong and also far overstepping your bounds as his neighbor. Spying out your window for his car to come back from work would absolutely be taking it too far. So you had your blinds more-or-less closed (they were actually just barely peeking open so that you could get some sun and that was definitely the only reason), your headphones on to blast music (one side of them was hanging off your ear so you could listen to the ambient sounds of your house and not the sound of a car pulling into a driveway), and your mind buried in a good book (you hadn’t turned a page in ten minutes).
Okay, so maybe you were waiting. But you had made too much chicken noodle soup for dinner tonight and you knew that he liked it. And Abby liked it too, so it was basically a triple win for you: make Abby happy, get rid of your extra soup, and see Mike for a few minutes. Everyone would be happy overall—you just had to wait for the babysitter to leave after Mike got back.
Or: you're mike's neighbor, and you're head over heels for him.

Mark never wore gloves while he worked. It was always his bare hands, free of any covering, that did the job. This led to you frequently being able to hear loud swears or choruses of “ow” that echoed through the halls of the Invincible II as he was shocked by wires or other electrical devices. Sometimes there would be a loud crash as he would pick up a too-hot piece of metal without thinking about it. Because of this, his hands were tough, the skin thick from the many burns that he acquired each day. They also were covered in scars. Long ones, short ones, thick ones, thin ones.
Scars weren’t the only things on Mark’s hands though. He was almost constantly covered in grease or oil. Streaks of the dark substances were permanently stuck on his hands, transferring to things he touched but never quite coming off unless he really scrubbed at them.
In which your Head Engineer is constantly dirty, and you can't help but notice.

There was one girl sitting happily in the middle of the room, surrounded by cats. She had a dark skin tone and was wearing a pink skirt and what Saeyoung was pretty sure was a halter top. (How he knew that? Well, let’s just say that he had been considering one for cosplay for a long time.) When she turned to look at him, he spotted glasses and heterochromatic eyes. One brown, the other a bright blue.
She’s cute, was his first thought. It only amplified when he realized that her hair had a piece sticking up that looked to be meticulously formed into a heart like you would see on a lovesick anime girl. Her dedication spoke volumes and he knew that he would probably end up liking this girl if they talked.
He shook his head slightly. No, he couldn’t be thinking about that. Not today! He was here for cute cats, not cute girls or cute boys. His mind was set firmly on petting all the adorable creatures.
Or: After far too long at the computer, Saeyoung decides that he needs to see the world. When fate smiles down on him in the form of a pet store, he's sure it's the right choice. Plus, there's a cute girl there too, and that can't hurt, right?
