   Summary

   What if Xie Lian was able to salvage the scraps of Wuming's soul, instead of thinking he'd been dispersed? What if, on Wuming's journey to catch up and become powerful for his beloved, Xie Lian was with him every step of the way?

   That same nightmare - or rather, memory - had been plaguing his mind for weeks now, ever since his second ascension and voluntary banishment.

   Xie Lian clutched the spirit-trapping pouch containing the fragments of Wuming’s soul to his chest, murmuring both apologies as well as comforting words to himself and the spirit as he rocked back and forth, attempting in vain to regain his bearings.
