Summary
Just over ten minutes later, Athena is beginning to wonder if Hermes was mistaken. Maybe the supposed mix up was in itself a mix up, and there were no petals in the cake after all. Or maybe there were, but she’s one of the few people in existence for whom moly has no effect. That would make sense, she thinks. Her domain is the mind, after all, so perhaps that automatically cancels out anything that might alter her thoughts.
In that case, why is she standing off to the side like this? If the moly isn’t going to be a problem, there’s no need for her to remain separate. She should join a conversation! Talk to people! It might even be fun!
Oh, she thinks, blinking rapidly as the realisation hits. Oh, no.
***
Several months on from that disastrous road trip, Odysseus and Penelope invite their friends and family over for the evening. Athena reluctantly agrees to come, planning to stay for as short a time as possible before disappearing. But when Hermes shows up, a moly-related mix up causes events to take an... interesting turn.
Or: Athena and Odysseus accidentally get high, then spend the next few hours trying very hard to pretend they didn't.

Summary
Five years ago, the king of Ithaca made the choice to sacrifice himself for his crew. Over 500 men made it back, but Odysseus was not one of them, cursed instead to swim the seas.
At first he could remember, even if he no longer could speak - his tongue removed as part of the punishment, but one incident with the wind bag later and he was alone for far far too long.
But Ithaca will have it's king.
And more importantly; Penelope will have her husband back. No matter how long it takes.

Summary
"Penelope steadied her hands on his shoulders and turned her face up to the gentle rainfall. She took a deep breath of salty air and smoothed her elegant fingers over his familiar chiton. “It’s a nice day to cool off,” she commented. It wasn’t condescending or dismissive or distant; it was just true.
She waited, in all of her statuesque grace, for his shaking to subside and for him to finally accept that the light drizzle wouldn’t escalate into a world-shattering disaster, even though she didn’t know that it was what she was waiting for. When he got to his feet and took her perfect face in his cracked palms, he decided that it was time to tell her why he couldn’t help but fear the water he once loved."

Summary
Penelope still kept the small shrine to Athena in the courtyard outside her bedroom. It was no grand thing, an altar under the branches of the olive trees with only a small figure of the goddess in her aspect as the goddess of war and tactics, bearing spear and shield. Every day, either just as dawn laid its rosy fingers on the sky or just as the night drew down its dark cloak, Penelope knelt on the worn stone before it and prayed.
“Bright-eyed lady,” she said, hands pressed together in the earliest dawn light, “goddess of wisdom, show my husband the way home, and let him be clever enough to see it.”
Penelope, on a day that she has not yet realized will be the first day of the rest of her life.
