I loved the dark descriptors used to convey everything! This was a beautiful story.
(Line from the story - Semi-spoiler):
Aww, at least she got to be free in the end. They got to be together. That's nice. "Only a few months ago did a mob of deer in the dozens trot their way past her, treating her as if she was a stump in the ground." I love the visual of this soldier in the forest and snow, becoming one with nature, to the point where she's like a tree. Very cool.
