You hand-picked a select few from the labs after they disbanded and threw together a glorified bodyguard unit to protect him from the shadows, which was going well until you got wind of a plot to kill him and his brother during the Battle City semi-finals. You would have to enter the tournament and make it onto that blimp if you had any hope of protecting the Kaiba boys.
