“Of course I want to leave!” Wei Wuxian burst. “You think I like living here? You think it’s enjoyable going hungry most days just so everyone else has enough to eat? You think it’s enjoyable sleeping cold because we don’t have nearly enough blankets or thick clothes for everyone? You think I like hearing what people have to say about me? That I’m a scourge upon this land, a demon who waiting to kill everyone? I hate it. I hate it! I hate it so much.” His voice dropped to a whisper just then, a tear slipping down his pale cheek and dripping onto the floor.
“I fucking hate being in this situation. But these people are relying on me, and no one raised a hand to help us. They have no protector but me. And if demonic cultivation gives me the power to be strong enough to save them then so be it.”
