They eat in silence for a few minutes. She feels hot all over, flustered, and it doesn’t help how Miko keeps looking at her from under her eyelashes, her lips just slightly lifted at the corners.
It is only when they have finished the plate and Miko has poured them tea that she speaks again. “Tell me what’s on your mind, my dear.”
Her voice is so soft, so kind, that Ei feels her eyes begin to sting. She takes a shaky breath, and it does nothing to calm her. She looks up at the ceiling so that she does not let any traitorous tears make their way down her cheeks. “Eternity,” she says.

Miko was mid-spin, dress certainly flaring out, but she softly glided to the ground, one knee falling on the ground and the other propping her up. The dress was splayed out against the ground, all ruffled. Her purple eyes (her favorite shade of purple) were bright, gleaming under the weak light, but Ei could see some anxiety shining through. Champagne flute held between two fingers, tilting precariously on the ground. Resting in the palm of her hand, was an open box with a gleaming ring.
